Wrinkles in the epdm rubber roof of a class a rv.
Rv rubber roof wrinkles.
Our fw tpo roof looks the same the wrinkles aren t a problem.
Tim moss explains why you should be more concerned with the cause behind your wrinkly roof than just it s appearance.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Certain brands of rv roofs are plywood that is stapled down on the edges.
Brand new building built in 2007.
Expansion or contraction of the rubber and some small areas with adhesive issues do occur resulting in bubbles wrinkles at times.
After you ve cleaned it apply the primer let it dry and then use the adhesive sealant to attach the patch to the roof.
Typically the seams on the roofing material plywood or whatever are taped over prior to the rubber membrane being glued to the surface.
Wrinkles are very common on rubber roofs.
If the membrane is intact you do not need an rv roof replacement in this situation.
I don t use any chemicals on our roof and prefer to power wash it yearly with just water at 1200 1800 psi.
Weight the patch until it s dry.
Use a roller to smooth the surface and remove any new air bubbles.
I did an inspection of a condo in a big complex today.
The roof had several ripples in it.
The rubber roofs on rvs and many commercial buildings are a good roof for the most.
I had them on my previous rv 5th wheel without any problems for years.
I do not recall any posts where replacing or adding to luan in your case material under the rubber roof was done as you are alluding to.
However there are other posts where getting the roof repaired replaced s b done.
With time the wood flexes pops loose and you will see clear defined lines on your rv roof with a slight bubble in the rv roof.
I don t do too many inspections of rubber roofs around here.
See pic for example.
It s critical to thoroughly clean the area you re patching so the adhesive will bond with the roof.
Mainly the rubber is more prone to ripping on tree branches.
